Get Real and Heel Program Information
Get Real and Heel was founded at UNC Chapel Hill in 2006 as a research study for women who had completed treatment for stage 1-3 breast cancer. Now, Get Real and Heel in Chapel Hill includes all diagnoses, treatment phases, and cancer stages. In 2024, Get Real and Heel received a Duke Endowment Award to support our expansion to 6 sites across the state and to culturally adapt our program for Spanish speaking cancer survivors.

Research at Get Real and Heel
In addition to providing exercise programming to cancer survivors across the state of NC, Get Real and Heel is committed to adding to the field of exercise oncology through research. Our current research focus is on motivation and exercise adherence after program graduation with and without health coaching.
